FAQs

Where are your classes held?

We have our classes all over Manhattan and Brooklyn. Our spring, summer and fall seasons are held at outdoor parks and playgrounds in neighborhoods such as the Upper East Side, the Upper West Side, Midtown, Chelsea, Gramercy, West Village, Tribeca, FiDi, Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo. Click here to see the details, photos and maps of locations we use around the NYC area.

How many weeks do your sessions run for?

Our spring and fall sessions are typically 8 weeks long. Summer is typically 12 weeks long and Winter is typically 16 weeks long. We follow the private school calendar and are closed for the holiday break (2 weeks), spring break (2 weeks) and other major national holidays.

When is your indoor season?

Our indoor season is during the winter months, and begins mid-November. It runs for approximately 16 weeks, through mid-April. We use indoor facilities such as gyms, churches, and dance studios - spaces large and open enough to accommodate our equipment and the children. Our indoor locations are in Upper East Side, Union Square, West Village, Chelsea, Brooklyn Heights, Tribeca, and FiDi. What are your coaches like?

We take pride in hiring the best instructors who emphasize the importance of learning the proper fundamentals of tennis, as well as building life skills, teamwork, agility, and balanced exercise. All coaches have a background check and are fully trained before teaching our classes.

What is your student to teacher ratio?

Our student to teacher ratio is 5:1. If you have 6 or more children in your group we will have 2 coaches. If there are more than 11 children, we will have 3 coaches. We do not recommend groups larger than 14 children.

Can I sign up for just a few classes?

Unfortunately we are not set up as an a la cart program. You must sign up for the whole season of classes. The only exception to this is if you sign up after the session started, we are happy to prorate you for the classes you missed at the start if the class has open spots available. If there is class you know you will miss, you can reach out to us so that we can add you to the roster for the final make-up class at the end of the session.

Can I try a class to see if my child likes it?

We offer an option to register and pay for a trial class if you’d like to try the program. You can email us to register, or you can register directly here. Please note that trial classes are non-refundable.

Can I organize my own class with friends?

Yes! We love having custom tennis PODs. These are weekly 45-minute classes for a private group of children - if you are able to find at least 3 friends to join you, you can pick the day, time, and location that is most convenient for your group. Email us to find out more and to book your POD.

Do you offer private and/or semi-private lessons?

Yes! We often teach private and semi-private lessons. These lessons are generally 1-hour long and you can select the number of lessons you would like in your package. You can email us for more information, pricing, and to schedule your lessons.

Does my child need to bring a tennis racquet?

Our coaches bring all the necessary equipment to class with them so there is no need to bring a racquet. If your child prefers to use their own racquet they are welcome to bring one to class.

What kind of racquet should I buy my child?

Under age 3 should use a 17” racquet. Ages 3-4 should use a 19" racquet, and ages 5-6 should use a 21" racquet. It’s always a good idea to size up if you are in-between sizes so that the child can grow into it. Brands we recommend are: Gamma, Head or Wilson. Whatever you buy, just remember at this age they will scuff it up a lot!

What happens if it’s raining?

If it is drizzling, or rain is predicted for only a short amount of time, we will likely have class. If it’s raining heavily, or will be raining for most of the class time, we will cancel classes. You will be notified up to 1-hour in advance if classes are cancelled. If you do not hear from us, classes are ON. In some cases, class may be cancelled at the start if the weather takes a turn - we allow our coaches to make those calls on the spot. Classes that are cancelled due to rain will be made up at the end of the session. Please see our terms of service, make-up and cancellation policies page for more details.

How do I schedule a make up class?

Every outdoor session will have one additional class at the end for any children who were absent, or if class was cancelled due to inclement weather. Absences require 24-hour advance notice so that the child may be added to the make-up class roster. For our indoor/winter classes you can email us more than 24 hours in advance to receive a credit on your account to be used towards a future season, as we cannot offer make up classes in the winter season. Please see our terms of service, make-up and cancellation policies page for more details.
